The provider uses a cystoscope passed through the urethra and into the bladder to inspect the structures; he destroys (fulgurates) tissue on the bladder trigone, bladder neck, prostatic fossa, urethra, and/or periurethral glands with high–frequency electric current (electrocautery), intense cold (cryosurgery) or heat (laser surgery).
