The provider performs a biopsy (excision of tissue or lesion) from the inner wall (endoluminal) of the ureter and/or renal pelvis. The provider does not use an endoscopic approach but performs the biopsy through another route such as a nephrostomy catheter. He uses ultrasound and/or fluoroscopy (technologies that provide live images displayed on a video monitor) to guide the procedure. The procedure includes all associated radiological supervision and interpretation.
