Alveoloplasty is done prior to placement of a dental prosthesis. In order to facilitate smooth fitting of the denture, the dentist performs alveoloplasty to make the alveolar process smoother. Sometimes, the alveolar process becomes deformed due to periodontal disease. This is also one of the reasons for performing an alveoloplasty.
