The provider surgically repairs a sinus of Valsalva fistula, an abnormal connection between the aortic sinus, or a structural dilation in the ascending aorta, and the heart. He also repairs a ventricular septal defect, or a hole in the tissue wall separating the two ventricles. The provider places the patient on cardiopulmonary bypass during the procedure.
