Summary

The provider replaces the patient's heart valve with an artificial one. Enlargement of the aortic annulus during aortic valve replacement permits insertion of a larger prosthetic valve. The procedure treats aortic valve stenosis or regurgitation. In the Konno procedure, the provider repairs a congenital, or present since birth, aortic stenosis of the junction of the left ventricle and aorta and replaces the valve.
