In this procedure, the provider performs laryngoscopy, examination of the larynx using a flexible tube–shaped endoscope with a camera at one end. He also uses an operating microscope or telescope to assist with the procedure. He then removes one or more non–cancerous lesions, such as polyps, from the vocal cord. He also reconstructs the defect left after lesion removal by separately obtaining a mucosal tissue graft.
