Colorectal cancer screening includes radiologic, endoscopic, and laboratory tests to assess the colon, or lower part of the large intestine, and the rectum for cancer in individuals at age 50 or older. The code includes the interpretation of the results of the procedure by the provider and its documentation. Unlike diagnostic tests, there do not need to be signs, symptoms, or history of colon disease in order to cover a screening exam.
