The provider surgically immobilizes multiple or transverse midtarsal or tarsometatarsal joints with the help of fixation devices. He also performs an osteotomy, the surgical removal of a portion of the shaft of the metatarsal bone to correct a flat foot deformity. The goal of this procedure is to treat pain in patients with end stage osteoarthritis of the midtarsal or tarsometatarsal joints.
