The provider removes bone from a bunion, a foot deformity that causes a bump near where the big toe joins the foot. The procedure includes proximal metatarsal osteotomy, cutting and realigning a long bone in the foot. The provider also may remove the sesamoid bones (pea–shaped bones under the big toe joint).
