In this procedure, the provider moves the tibial tubercle up from the bone and brings the tubercle forward to bring the knee cap, or patella, forward. The tibial tuberosity is a bony prominence in the shin bone below the knee cap where the patellar tendon inserts. The provider performs this procedure to reduce load on the patellofemoral joint to treat knee cap pain that occurs without arthritis.
