In this procedure, the provider performs open treatment of a slipped femoral epiphysis using single or multiple pins or by using a graft obtained from another part of the body. Slipped femoral epiphysis is a condition encountered in growing children and characterized by the femoral head, or epiphysis, slipping off the femoral neck due to fracture of the growth plate, called the physis.
