In this procedure, the provider performs an iliac osteotomy, cutting a portion of ilium along the acetabular or innominate bone. He also performs femoral osteotomy in which he cuts the thigh bone to correct its alignment. The acetabulum is a cup–shaped socket of the hip joint. An innominate bone is either of the two bones that form the sides of the pelvis, consisting of three fused components: the ilium, ischium, and pubis.
