In this procedure, the provider transfers the iliopsoas muscle from the lesser trochanter of the femur to the greater trochanter to compensate for weak hip abductor muscles. The lesser trochanter is a bony prominence on the inner side of the neck of the femur bone. The greater trochanter is a bony projection on the outer and upper side of the femur.
