At the same session as percutaneous vertebroplasty of the cervicothoracic or lumbosacral vertebral body, the provider repeats the procedure on each additional vertebral body. The provider performs cervicothoracic or lumbosacral vertebroplasty, the surgical repair of a fractured vertebra in the spine, usually involving the injection of bone cement. The provider commonly performs this procedure to treat osteoporotic compression fractures in patients where conservative treatment fails. He may also perform a bone biopsy for diagnostic purposes. The procedure takes place under imaging guidance.
