The provider reconstructs the patient's facial bones in a LeFort I midface surgery to correct congenital or acquired deformities such as long face syndrome, an elongation of the lower face caused by childhood mouth breathing. The provider moves the maxilla, or upper jaw bone, and associated bones forward, repositioning the teeth bearing part of the maxilla.
