The provider examines the target tissue in one or both lower extremities by exposing it to near–infrared light and analyzing the tissue’s absorption and emission of light to screen the patient for peripheral arterial disease. The provider moves the patient’s position, acquires images, interprets the results, and completes a report. This code is specific to noncontact studies, meaning the device’s spectrometer sensors do not have direct contact with the skin.
