The provider examines the target tissue by exposing it to near–infrared light and analyzing the tissue’s absorption and emission of light. The provider acquires images, interprets the results, and completes a report. This code is specific to noncontact studies, meaning the device’s spectrometer sensors do not have direct contact with the skin. Use this code for the first or only anatomic site studied for a reason other than peripheral arterial disease screening.
