This is a Proprietary Laboratory Analyses (PLA) code, meaning that the code applies to only one unique lab test made by a specific manufacturer or performed by a specific lab. Report 0259U only for GFR by NMR, from Labtech™ Diagnostics, on a serum specimen. The test uses nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy to measure myo–inositol, valine, and creatinine, plus an immunoassay to measure cystatin C. Using the test results and demographic data, an algorithmic analysis produces an estimated glomerular filtration rate (GFR), which indicates how well the kidneys are working, specifically for patients with chronic kidney disease.
