Question: I know that CCI edits bundles code 52000 with 51701 and that no modifier is allowed to override the edit. When our urologist performs both services during an encounter, which code do I file? South Dakota Subscriber Answer: Only submit code 52000 (Cystourethroscopy (separate procedure)). CCI edits designate 51701 (Insertion of non-indwelling bladder catheter (eg, straight catheterization for residual urine)) as a component of 52000, so only report the more comprehensive code of 52000.
