Question: How do I code for a patient who received an in-office computed tomography (CT) scan of the abdomen and pelvis that includes oral contrast, only? Delaware Subscriber Answer: When reporting 74177 (Computed tomography, abdomen and pelvis; with contrast material(s)), you should confirm within the technique that the provider administered contrast intravenously. If the documentation only supports administration of oral contrast, then you should not code the service as with contrast. Instead, you will report 74176 (… without contrast material).
