Choose 90911 For Biofeedback, Not PFMR

Question: Our urologist started performing pelvic floor muscle training in the office, and the sales rep for equipment said to bill CPT 91122 , 97750, and 97032. All my research leads me to believe that it would be more appropriate to bill 90911 for biofeedback. Can you tell me which I should be using?Answer: You are really talking about two different, but somewhat related, services.For biofeedback, you should report 90911 (Biofeedback training, perineal muscles, anorectal or urethral sphincter, including EMG and/or manometry) alone.Alternately, for pelvic floor muscle rehabilitation (PFMR) you may report three codes:91122 -- Anorectal manometry97750 -- Physical performance test or measurement [e.g., musculoskeletal, functional capacity], with written report, each 15 minutes97032 -- Application of a modality to one or more areas; electrical stimulation [manual], each 15 minutes.Warning: Some payers require modifier GP (Services delivered under an outpatient physical therapy plan of care) on the latter two physiotherapy codes.
