Question: The doctor excised granulation tissue on the anterior lip of the cervix. Is there a code for this, or would I have to use an unlisted procedure code? Idaho Subscriber Answer: CPT® 2017 does not include a specific code for excision ofgranulation tissue on the anterior lip of the cervix. Because of this, you should submit an “unlisted” code: 58999 (Unlisted procedure, female genital system [nonobstetrical]). Benchmark this procedure with 57500 (Biopsy of cervix, single or multiple, or local excision of lesion, with or without fulguration [separate procedure]).
