Question: If a physician performs a Facetime conversation with a COVID-19 patient from the hallway outside of their room, would that qualify as telemedicine or a face-to-face visit?

Answer: This is a scenario for which no true guidelines exist, yet. Technically, this encounter stills qualifies as a normal hospital visit. However, you should contact your Medicare Administrative Contractor (MAC) or the respective commercial payer for further guidance.
