Reader Question:

Cystoscopy

Question: How should I code for a percutaneous cystoscopy via cystotomy tract?

Florida Subscriber
Answer: Use a regular cystoscopy code (52000-52010). It doesnt matter which orifice you use, as long as the bladder is there. Even though you are not inserting the scope through the urethra, the important part of the procedure is to look into the bladder. It doesnt matter whether you get in through the urethra or a cystotomy.
