Use the CPM for RPM of Cardiology Patients

Question: As a cardiologist, I have several patients who suffer from chronic heart disease. I want to be able to monitor their conditions while they’re away from the office to ensure I’m receiving the most accurate data to provide treatment.

What remote patient monitoring (RPM) devices are available for cardiology patients?

Answer: Several RPM devices are available, including those that are geared toward cardiology patients. One device that is designed for those with chronic conditions, such as your patients, is the Sensinel Cardiopulmonary Management (CPM) System from Analog Devices.

Recently, the device received 510(k) clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The remote management device offers a wearable design to allow a noninvasive method to collect critical health data and transmits that data to the Sensinel CPM cloud platform through a cellular connection.

The CPM system delivers daily health assessments for congestive heart failure (CHF) patients through vital signs sensing and signal processing technology paired with cardiologist-specific algorithms. The system captures nine cardiopulmonary indicators through which, clinicians can make informed decisions regarding the patient’s care.

“When managing chronic conditions like heart failure, it is critical to adjust treatment early to get the condition under control without the need for hospitalization. Other existing non-invasive solutions are not specific enough to provide the data a clinician needs to be effective for early intervention,” said Dr. Venu Gopinathan, ADI Fellow and Managing Director of Medical Products at ADI in a press release.
