Battle Radiologist Burnout With AI

Question: Several radiologists in our practice are tired and struggling to keep up on their workflow due to the sheer number of patients visiting our office for diagnostic imaging. The providers are capturing images, but then interpreting the images and compiling their report takes longer than usual.

How can we support our providers and maintain efficiency?

Answer: Battling burnout in the workplace is a very real and very hard fight. You can encourage your providers to take time off to recover and get refreshed. Prioritizing the most critical cases can also be helpful in streamlining the radiologists’ workflow.

Another option that comes to mind is using artificial intelligence (AI) to assist the radiologists while they’re reviewing the images. In fact, Bayer and Google Cloud recently announced a partnership to develop AI solutions that support radiologists.

“Radiology plays a vital role in healthcare, and the need to efficiently and accurately uncover insights and deliver solutions at scale that can improve patient outcomes has never been greater,” said Nelson Ambrogio, president, Radiology at Bayer in an April 9, 2024 press release.

Through Google Cloud technology, including its generative AI tools, radiologists will be able to efficiently handle repetitive tasks to save time and better serve their patients.
