FCC Injects $42.7 Million Into its COVID Telehealth Program

Providers can continue providing telehealth services with the added funds.

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has approved more providers and added funds to its COVID-19 Telehealth Program.

Background: In March 2020, the CARES Act funded the COVID-19 Telehealth Program with $200 million, but the FCC quickly went through that money and halted the program. Then in March 2021, the FCC relaunched round 2 with an additional $250 million in funding from the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2021.

Now: On Dec. 21, 2021, the FCC announced that it had approved the applications of 68 providers and would begin distributing more than $42.7 million from the program.
