Question: Is code 77293 applicable for only the hospital based radiation services?

Answer: CMS will not provide separate payment for the new respiratory management service, +77293 (Respiratory motion management simulation [List separately in addition to code for primary procedure]) in the hospital outpatient environment. However, you should list it as a separate line item on all claims where the service is provided and appropriately documented.

You will add this code to your primary code to describe your radiologist’s work when performing respiratory motion management or 4D CT simulation studies. You’ll most likely bill this code with 77295 (3-dimensional radiotherapy plan, including dose-volume histograms) as your primary code.
