UnitedHealthcare Extends CAD Coverage -- for Now

A previously announced policy goes on hold CAD coverage issues are up in the air for many payers, so take the time to have your say. Case in point: In a September Network Bulletin, UnitedHealthcare announced it would implement a policy not to cover CAD with mammographies. The November Network Bulletin announced that United postponed implementing that policy until further notice, says Michael Longacre, HealthCare Market Strategies Inc. consultant in Yamhill, Ore. "A decision of this magnitude will influence other payers to follow suit," Longacre says. He suggests contacting your local United office to share your thoughts.
