Reader Questions:

71035 OK for More Than Bucky

Question: Which views merit 71035?

Indiana Subscriber

Answer: CPT lists a couple of the views in the descriptor for 71035 (Radiologic examination, chest, special views [e.g., lateral decubitus, Bucky studies]).

In addition to lateral decubitus and Bucky studies, other views experts suggest include the following:

• the apical lordotic view, which has the central ray angled up toward the patient's head to allow visualization of the uppermost parts of the lungs

• the AP expiration view, which is just a single-view chest taken with the patient in full exhalation instead of full inhalation.
