Question: Our physician has documented a diagnosis of chronic rhinosinusitis and nasal polyps. Is chronic rhinosinusitis different from chronic sinusitis? Can you suggest the appropriate ICD-10 code for this diagnosis?

Answer: Chronic rhinosinusitis is also known as chronic sinusitis, so these two are not different clinical conditions. The best ICD-10 diagnosis codes which you can consider include J32.9 (Chronic sinusitis, unspecified) for chronic rhinosinusitis and J33.9 (Nasal polyp, unspecified) for nasal polyps.
