+0439T is The New Echo Cat. III Code
Question: What are the new Category III codes expected for echo procedures this July?

Answer: Effective July 1, the new Cat. III code for echo procedure is +0439T (Myocardial contrast perfusion echocardiography; at rest or with stress, for assessment of myocardial ischemia or viability [List separately in addition to code for primary procedure]).
Primary procedure: This is an add-on code, which you’ll be able to report with primary transthoracic echocardiography codes 93306-93308, 93350, and 93351.
MACs decide payment: Expect the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule (MPFS) not to assign RVUs to +0439T, but to instead allow MACs to decide coverage and payment.
