What is Bagassosis?

Hypersensitivity pneumonitis is a respiratory problem caused by a hypersensitivity reaction to inhaled organic dusts. Hypersensitivity pneumonitis, also known as extrinsic allergic alveolitis, is classified according to the nature of the organic dust that is inhaled. EAA is an occupational hazard as it manifests in people working in industries or farms and suffer continuous exposure to organic dusts.Bagassosis is one form of extrinsic allergic alveolitis caused by exposure to cane dust during the extraction of sugar. This is an occupational hazard for people working in industries involved in sugar extraction.
