Reader Question:

Oximetry Reading

Question: How can I get reimbursed for an oximetry reading (CPT 94760 ) and an office evaluation and management visit on the same day? What about multiple oximetry readings (for example, an exercise oximetry, 94761)?

Texas Subscriber

Answer: As of Jan. 1, 2000, procedure codes 94760 (noninvasive ear or pulse oximetry for oxygen saturation; single determination) and 94761 ( ... multiple determinations, [e.g., during exercise]) are bundled into any other service performed on the same day. Medicare (and carriers that follow Medicare guidelines) will no longer pay for this service unless it is the only service performed on that date.
