Reader Question:

FEV-1 and FVC Readings Don't Change 94060 Use

Question: Can I bill for 94060 if the FEV-1 and FVC reach a certain percent when the pulmonologist performs pulmonary function studies?

Montana Subscriber Answer: When billing pulmonary function studies, you can report 94060 (Bronchospasm evaluation: spirometry as in 94010, before and after bronchodilator [aerosol or parenteral]) regardless of the FEV-1 and FVC readings. But the test does require a pre- and post-bronchodilator measurement.
