Capture Preparation and Administration For Allergen Immunotherapy

Question: Our pulmonologist recently saw an established allergic asthma patient whose symptoms were not controlled adequately by the previous medications that he was taking. Our pulmonologist carefully assessed the patient's previous history, allergy history, medications and symptoms and conducted a thorough evaluation of the patient's asthma, changing the medications. After the assessment, our pulmonologist provided the patient's scheduled allergen immunotherapy. He provided a single injection of the allergen extract and observed the patient for about 30 minutes before releasing the patient and asking him to come back for another injection every week (as scheduled) until specified.
