Question: Prior to traveling to China to adopt a baby, an established patient presents for an exam. The family physician administers a one-unit dose of human immune globulin and writes a prophylactic prescription. Which diagnoses should I report for the services?

Texas Subscriber Answer: For the examination (99212-99215, Office visit for the evaluation and management of an established patient), you should report V70.3 (General medical examination; other medical examination for administrative purposes). Use V07.2 (Need for isolation and other prophylactic measures; prophylactic immunotherapy) for the injection administration (90782-90784, Therapeutic, prophylactic or diagnostic injection [specify material injected] ...) and immune globulin product (90281-90283, Immune globulin [Ig], human ...).
