Which diagnosis code should we assign to the testing code? Montana Subscriber Answer: The correct diagnosis code in this situation is Z01.110 (Encounter for hearing examination following failed hearing screening). The screening code indicates that the provider evaluated the patient for the hearing exam following a failed test, but does not brand the patient with a hearing problem, as a more definitive diagnosis would do.
