Question: Our practice sometimes sees patients as part of an agreement with our county’s department of health. I know we cannot bill Medicaid, for example, for no-show patients, but can we pursue a fee for a no-show in this situation? AAPC Forum Participant Answer: Since county and state health departments are funded by a mix of county, state, and federal funds, along with some other funding sources, you should consider health departments as government-funded and apply the same rules re: no-show patients.
