Understand Billing Date for Custom Inserts

Question: What would be the correct date of service to bill for custom inserts? The day of casting/mold or the date the inserts are actually dispensed? AAPC Forum Subscriber Answer: Custom foot orthotics should be billed on the date that they are dispensed. Remember to have the patient sign a proof of delivery (POD) to document the receipt of the inserts in their chart.
