Question: I am hoping to get some advice on what HCPCS and CPT® codes are appropriate to bill for casting/ordering/fitting a custom orthotic. We currently bill L3000 (Foot, insert, removable, molded to patient model, ‘UCB’ type, Berkeley Shell, each) and cast via a digital image. Is there an appropriate casting code that is allowed for this method? AAPC Forum Subscriber Answer: The 2022 HCPCS manual shows L3000 as a documentation code. This code is not separately priced and is included in the lump sum purchase of the orthotics.
