Question: If the podiatrist detaches the Achilles tendon to perform a calcaneal spur excision and then he reattaches the tendon, he cannot charge for the reattachment, right? I just want to make sure. AAPC Forum Subscriber Answer: You are correct. Attaching or reattaching of the Achilles tendon is considered inherent in the excision of the bone spur.
