Question: I received a chart with a diagnosis for "FOP," which is a bone disease, but I can't find it in the ICD-9 book. Is there a diagnosis code for this?

Answer: Fibrodysplasia ossificans progressiva (FOP) is a rare connective-tissue disorder that limits movement because bone forms in muscles, tendons, ligaments and other areas. It should be coded using 728.11 (progressive myositis ossificans).
