The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has good news for you. It debuted the Health Care Payment Learning and Action Network (Network) on March 25, which it described as “a forum for public-private partnerships to help the U.S. health care payment system (both private and public) meet or exceed … Medicare goals for value-based payments and alternative payment models.”
The idea behind this platform is to give providers, payers, the public, and other stakeholders an opportunity to share their views and potentially shape of things to come. Comments from President Barack Obama and HHS Secretary Sylvia Burwell featured in the March 25 meeting, which was the first among a series of online meetings.
“The transition to alternative and value-based models is already happening and is only going to accelerate over the next 2 to 3 years,” said Gayle Lee, JD, American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) senior director of health finance and quality, in a March 25 APTA press release. “The Network that CMS is offering is a good way for PTs to stay connected with the conversation about that transition and to contribute a provider’s perspective.”
