Question: What is the proper coding of a visit when a child is brought in to see the doctor because of a parents concern but the subsequent exam is normal?

Answer: If the patient has reported signs and symptomsor if the parent has noticed problems in the childthen code the signs and symptoms even if they are not apparent on exam. If there are no signs and symptoms, but the parent is just concerned about a problem but cant define why, you can use V71.8 (observation for other suspected condition not found).
