Pediatric Coding Alert

Correction:

Stay With V20.3x for Newborn Exam

Be careful that you still include the familiar 2 after the V code when using the newborn health supervision diagnosis. That's the lesson one astute Pediatric Coding Alert subscriber pointed out to the editor. "I am sure you have already been made aware of the typographical error in your Coding Alert, Vol. 12, No. 10, but just in case, I will bring it to your attention. The new ICD-9 codes to use for newborns should be V20.32 (Health supervision for newborn 8 to 28 days old) and not V30.32," wrote Pam Picariello, with Preferred Pediatrics at Snowden in Fredericksburg, Va. Thanks, Pam, for the catch as we speed the updates to you -- and thanks too for the kudos. "I will tell you that I really appreciate all of the great information I receive from the Pediatric Coding Alert," she concluded.
