Say Yes to MPO and CRP

What codes describe these tests, and can we report them together? Texas Subscriber Answer: The code for myleoperoxidase (MPO) is 83876 (Myeloperoxidase (MPO)), and for C-reactive protein (CRP) is 86140 (C-reactive protein). If the cardiologist ordered high sensitivity CRP, you would instead list 86141 (... high sensitivity (hsCRP)). There is no Correct Coding Initiative (CCI) edit pair that restricts you from reporting MPO and CRP testing together. Cardiologists may order this test combination for patients following coronary angiography because studies have shown that taken together, the results can indicate long-term risk of cardiovascular mortality for those patients.
