Interventional cardiologists who struggled over which specialty code to report on Medicare claims can breathe easy starting in January, when a new code will be in effect, according to MLN Matters article MM8812. Several other specialty code adjustments will also take effect in the New Year, the article notes.
The new Interventional Cardiology specialty code will be known as “C3,” and you’ll also find the word “clinical” removed from specialty code 62, which will now read (Psychologist [Billing independently]).
In addition, the description of specialty code 88 is now “Unknown provider,” while 95 will be described as “Unknown supplier.”
