As promised, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services revoked troublesome drug administration edits imposed last April.
The deleted edits bundled sequential IV push code G0354 with five other drug administration codes: G0345, G0347, G0357, G0359 and G0361. CMS officials say the revision is retroactive to April 1. Providers say those edits would have made it hard to bill drug administration for each additional drug provided. (See PBI, Vol. 6, no. 18.)
CMS also removed longstanding edits bundling nail debridement CPT 11720 - 11721 with new patient visit codes 99201-99202. That means you'll be able to bill for debridement of mycotic nails on the same date as an initial evaluation and management visit. You can also bill 99201-99202 with non-dystrophic nail trimming CPT 11719 and G0127.
CMS also removed edits bundling gastric surgery codes 44005 and 44200 with hysterectomy code 59525, and 44200 with fissurectomy code 46200. And you can now report endometrial sampling code 58100 at the same time as colpopexy code 57280 without having to worry about edits.
Also no longer bundled are female genital laparoscopy code 58660 and digestive laparoscopy code 43280. And CMS also deleted an edit bundling salpingectomy code 58700 with lysis of adhesions code 58740.
