CMS Offers Quick Annual Wellness Checklist

Your practice might already be on the right track when it comes to documenting and billing annual wellness visits (AWVs), but just in case you could use some help, CMS has issued a handy checklist that allows you to ensure that you're performing all the required elements of the visit. For instance, the sheet prompts you to obtain height, weight, BMI, blood pressure, and other routine measurement data, and has you check a box after you've reviewed the beneficiary's functional ability and safety level. In addition to including a checklist, the document, which is part of the MLN Matters series, offers several FAQs on annual wellness visits. For instance, it reminds providers not to collect coinsurance, copayments, or deductibles for the visit.
